Oadby, Leicester.

Dear Alan & Anne,

Just wanted to say how very much we enjoyed our stay at Tywyn Cottage last week.

The cottage is wonderful – warm, cosy and incredibly well equipped – more stuff in the kitchen than I have at home!

You seem to have thought of everything and it is all the thoughtful little touches that made the whole holiday so special.

Things like the robes in the bedrooms, shampoo and shower gel and all the essentials like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, foil, kitchen roll….I could go on & on….these things are never normally provided in any holiday cottage I’ve ever stayed in before!!

The wealth of information in the cottage about local walks and places to visit was much appreciated too, as were the personal tips and advice you gave us whenever we inquired.

I’m sure your guests have many varied reasons for coming to this beautiful area of Wales for a holiday, but ours was all about the dog!!

This was not our usual type of holiday at all – most of our holidays are planned around our obsession with Roller Coasters and usually the only walking we do is round a theme park.

But that was before we acquired a Labrador puppy.

I’m sure anyone reading this who has owned a Labrador will remember that time when the cute little Andrex puppy turns into a bored teenager with boundless energy, who would be saying “play with me, please, please, please play with me!” all the time, if she could talk.

Well, at 7 months old, Poppy is definitely at that stage and this whole holiday was primarily for her benefit- we wanted to find somewhere we could take her on long walks and introduce her to the sea for the first time (seeing as she is intent on splashing around in every bit of water she can find!)

Alan’s suggestion of Black Rock Sands was perfect and we all had a great time splashing about in the sea! (We cheated – and wore wellies – well, it is January after all.)

All in all, we had a fabulous holiday- the weather was lovely, fine, dry and sunny most of the week. The walk along the Fisherman’s Path to Beddgelert was fun, if a little daunting at times for us city folk.

Poppy seemed a little unimpressed by the Ffestiniog Railway trip – slept most of the way.

But she loved the walk up Snowdon, via the Miners Path, especially the paddle in the lake at the top. She certainly wasn’t interested in playing that night. We couldn’t hear the TV over the sound of her snoring in front of the fire!

Coming back to the cosy cottage, a quick swim in the pool (us, not the dog!!) and curling up in front of the log fire every night, after a day in the great outdoors, was our idea of a perfect winter break and one we hope to repeat before the year is up.

Thank you both for making our stay in Wales so special and we look forward to seeing you again later in the year.
